Advocates Come Together from Across the US
CVC grantees and coalition members from 18 states, staff from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Community Catalyst, and experts in policy, communications, evaluating and fundraising met in Philadelphia to exchange ideas, share information and deepen our relationships.
From across the country, more than 100 people came together at the CVC Conference to celebrate the victories our coalitions have enjoyed and acknowledge our challenges over the last year. Consumer advocates rose to the challenge of state budget issues, and fended off cuts to programs and even fought for some significant policy wins. Together we pivoted to new efforts on national health reform, ensuring the experiences of the states have informed the debate in Washington. Thanks to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Consumer Voices for Coverage has played a unique and important role, supporting the efforts of consumer health advocates to shape and move health care reform in our states and our nation.
After drawing on the expertise of all participants, we left re-energized to continue efforts to represent the consumer voice in our states and in Washington DC, and to continue to work to ensure that health care reform meets the needs of everyone.
