Secure Health Care for Washington
Project Director: Will Pittz
The Secure Health Care for Washington is the statewide Consumer Voices for Coverage project seeking to achieve policy change that guarantees coverage for everyone in Washington within the next three years by building from the grassroots, reaching new stakeholders, conducting smart media and policy work, and engaging a broad coalition of strategic allies. The targeted grassroots education campaign will include Community Listening Sessions around the state, an expanded electronic communications capacity, and direct door-to-door, phone, and mail outreach. Other objectives also include conducting and disseminating research on effective policy alternatives as well as inviting people to participate in the “What About Me?” online simulation game to allay public fear about how these proposals will affect personal financial situations.
Washington Community Action Network and Research Fund is leading the Secure Health Care for Washington initiative. Washington CAN! is the largest consumer advocacy group in the state with over 50,000 members working with the broad aim of bringing about greater economic justice in the state and the country.
The Secure Health Care for Washington coalition is supported by a leadership team of organizations, including:
- Center for a Changing Workforce
- Children’s Alliance
- Herndon Alliance
- Lutheran Public Policy Office
- Northwest Federation of Community Organizations
- Northwest Health Law Advocates
- Puget Sound Alliance of Retired Americans
- Statewide Poverty Action Network
